This is a real resignation letter written by a 22-year-old Bahraini girl, who asked to remain anonymous. I found the bit about ‘special peppers' particularly amusing. Also, note that she says in the beginning that the following is a ‘brief' explanation of her reasons for quitting and then goes on for over 500 words! If you are planning to resign, this is how to do it.

How to Write a Resignation Letter

08/04/05 To whom it may concern,
I am writing to inform you that I formally will no longer be providing my services to your company.
The following is a brief explanation as to my withdrawal: Consistently required to do tasks beyond my service level agreement that we discussed upon my employment as a Secretary such as being asked to do on many occasions: Dirty laundry being given to me and expected to be washed and returned not once but every third day with no appreciation in return. Countless times I was told to run errands to the Bank, Travel Agencies and to do grocery shopping for your personal requirements such as providing cookies & Candies, soups, “special peppers” etc. All of these errands were accomplished using my personal vehicle with no offer of compensation for my running costs, nor was a company vehicle offered. Also, consistently I was told to do accounting paperwork & calculations even though accounting is NOT PART of my job requirement. And the company already had a designated accountant for this specific task. As if these things were not enough reason to force any normal person to resign, I also had to deal with poor coworker behavior in the office. The following are just a few examples of the abnormal behavior I endured daily : Lack of respect for fellow coworkers reflected not only towards myself, but the other people you interact with daily. Constantly dealing with having the Internet unplugged for no justifiable reason other than your discretion. If there was a problem with my Internet usage in my free time, I was never confronted about it. Though lack of Internet many times made my work very difficult, tedious, laborious and inefficient, forcing me to do things the long way such as repeated long distance phone calls, fax requests, finding the right people that I needed for my information from when all of this is readily available on Internet websites. Not only was my psychological health at risk, but also my physical health as well due to the clouds of second hand smoke. Ever since I joined the company I've found myself constantly plagued by migraines, coughing, watering eyes and an increase in allergic symptoms. Any requests or help that I have requested throughout my stay at the company has been greeted with constant sarcasm, cynicism and many other ways of blowing me off or just simply ignoring me. After almost five months of putting up with all of these previously mentioned things, I was consistently bombarded with criticism, complaints, comments and other ways of making me feel inadequate and unqualified for this position that I am supposedly “overpaid” for! When in reality I am doing the work of three people. Never in my five years of employment have I seen such unprofessional, unorganized, uncivilized, unethical company. Final incident where I was incapable of working and had informed the company, I was appalled at the behavior I received! Asking me to resign and not terminating the contract, rather than being professional about the whole situation, because of a measly one month salary issue. Consider this letter my well over due official resignation with the reasons behind it.
