Newspaper headline: April 11, 2007 'Man caught asleep in l Yet another young man was found in the display window of a lingerie shop yesterday morning by a startled shop owner as he pulled up the window shutters to start the day. The owner, S N M, who didn't wish to be named, was surprised to see his display windows in a mess and upon looking down found his mannequin in the warm embrace of a young man. The 'couple' who seemed to have had a pleasant, peaceful slumber, were rudely awakened by the shouting of the shop owner. Immediately waking up, the young man jumped to his feet, and ran out the back door leaving his partner stranded. Needless to say, the mannequin pretended to remain asleep, to avoid embarrassing questions by her employer. Upon arrival, the police, questioned the mannequin on the details of her illicit relationship with the boy, but she remained stubbornly quiet and refused to give away the identity of her lover. Meanwhile, DNA testing is being done on the crime scene to identify if there had been other visitors, and the mannequin fondly known as 'Jameela' is being detained for further questioning and testing for incriminating physical evidence. "I don't know why this happened to me, how will I ever regain my honour, in front of my customers," said the owner. "Although she dressed provocatively, she was only doing her job, I am positive that I have seen this young man before stalking her, and circling the store. Last week, I tried to confront him, but he ran away leaving some pink carnations at the foot of the display window." A Muharraq Municipal Councillor commented on the incident: "I warned them this would happen, but who would listen? How can we blame our boys? They can't resist the lingerie that is on mannequins these days. And as for the mannequin, she has now lost her reputation, and has no future. Let's just hope that she isn't carrying his child." Although, there is still no formal specific legislation in Bahrain banning the mixed marriages of humans and display accessories, society will continue to persecute the brave few who have secretly engaged in such affairs behind closed doors. |
